Ness Watts is an Australian author who was constantly surrounded by books growing up and naturally developed a love for stories.

Ness has been writing since the age of thirteen but was torn between her love for the written word and her curiosity around science and technology. After initially studying screenwriting and medical science, she changed direction and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, eventually pursuing a career in consumer electronics.

However, the voice in the back of her head refused to be ignored and Ness found a way to combine her love of science and technology with her dream of writing. Ness likes to write stories around time travel focusing on character complexities, mysteries and deep themes. She is currently working on her debut science fiction, mystery novel. She also runs a newsletter publication called Mind & Manuscript which talks about writing, psychology, and productivity related topics for creatives.

Currently working on: Project CC

Author Fun Facts:

  • I once read a third of my high school's library books before graduating. It was a big library so I consider this pretty nerdy.

  • Where to start? There are so many!

    Here are some of them:

    • The Tomorrow Code by Brain Faulkner

    • The Midnighters Series by Scott Westerfeld

    • Double Exposure by Brian Caswell

    • Traces Series by Malcom Rose

    • Divergent Series by Veronica Roth

    • Money Run by Jack Heath

    • Six of Crows and Shadow and Bone Series by Leigh Bardugo

  • Books were a safe haven for me through difficult times. They allowed me to explore my curiosity and imagine the great possibilities of life. I would like for my work to do the same for someone else one day. I want to create stories that matter. Stories that help give perspective to the human experience.

  • I like learning about technology, playing video games, watching British crime dramas and spending time in nature. I also seem to be collecting massive amounts of stationary but i'm sure i'll use it someday!
